You have a damaged installation.  You'll have to delete it and install again.  This time, though, do a clean installation.  If you do not remove all traces of the previous installation, including all hidden files, you'll probably still have trouble.  Here's how to do it >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 .  Those instructions should work with minor obvious adjustments for any SL viewer, not just the Linden V3 model.
