Update @ 2013-09-04 14:58PDT: Updated build numbers for the RC channels

 

This week's deploys are a day behind our regular schedule, due to Monday being a holiday in the US.

 

Second Life Server (main channel)

The main channel is getting the server maintenance project that was on Magnum last week (which was a superset of the changes found in BlueSteel and LeTigre).  This project includes some miscellaneous bug fixes, and also restricts activity in sims that are facing an imminent restart.

Scheduled Wednesday 2013-09-04 05:00-12:00 PDT

  

Second Life RC BlueSteel, RC LeTigre, and RC Magnum:

All three RC channels are receiving the same new server project.  This project is preparatory work for future viewers, and adds support for improved texture and mesh asset fetching techniques.  This update should not affect any viewers which are currently available.

I've tested sim-crossing with vehicles, and things are currently working well. Network quality can affect this, both at Second Life and across the wider internet, but I was getting good results at a time when the local-to-me internet can be quite busy.

The ancient bug involving sim boundaries and full parcels is still there. And camera position interacts with the short distance at which ban-lines can be seen to make life difficult. But, like the NSA, I rather expect such hassles to be with us always.

(I am inverstigating the possibility of usind a skywriting aircraft in Second Life to pass on sekrit messages.)
