TouchaHoney Perhaps
PLEASE READ! To whom it may concern:If this isn't reaching the correct person please please please forward it. There is a huge issue with the voice servers. We have posted on the forums. The only answers we get aren't working or we are being told we need to be premium to open a ticket. I just lost my job i cant afford to go premium but have been playing secondlife since 2004. So please forward this to someone that can look into this issue. This is an ongoing issue since yesterday afternoon 08/04. myself as well as several other people i know can not connect to the voice server upon login. Everything was fine we were using voice many of us on different sims. i froze and crashed others relogged at different times. upon relogging there was a notice that we could not connect to the voice server. to check your network and or firewall. with this link https://www.bhr.vivox.com/api2/ the link is a dead one. the page won't load. I waited hours thinking someone would fix the issue. then finally called mcafee to check my firewall and reconfigure if necessary. they took remote control of my pc and did several thigs to rule out the fact it wasnt the firewall. In fact i didn't think it was since it happened to so many of us. the issue is still ongoing when i logged in this morning. I have tried several different viewers all the same issue wont connect. Can someone please help or escalate the issue. upon researching this further i found there is a huge # of people going through this same issue as you will see in this link.PLEASE HELP US GET THIS TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE.Things i have tried:1. 3 different viewers.2. resetting voice3. going to many different sims and relogging and resetting voice4. preferences/ sounds and media device setting to select the input and out put device for voice. It's greyed out can not open drop down.5. called mcafee gave them remote access to my pc. ruled out firewall. after reconfiguring as knowledge base suggested. problem still exists. plus its not only affecting me as u can see in this post not to mention all the people i know that has the same issue.http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Vivox-voice-servers/m-p/1359357/highlight/false#M117456. uninstalled all viewers and reinstalled7. rebooted pc8. relogged a million timesNone of this is working! Please escalte this issue to someone that can fix it ! WolfBaginski Bearsfoot
This issue made it into Status at 12.55pm PDT on Sunday. Second Life uses a third-party service to handle voice chat, and they seem to be waiting for a response from them. I'm on Premium, and in my experience the Support Ticket System isn't of very much use.
Gryphon Ronas
Info that I just forwarded to LL in the hopes that it will help, somehow. Voice stopped working. I tried the following: The usual toggle/relogs, etc. Tried with other accounts Uninstalled/reinstalled viewers (Official & Firestorm) Reset cable modem & router Tried another computer Reset router to factory defaults Updated router firmware Replaced network cables Cussed at it, cried a bit in frustration None of that worked. Then I tried bypassing the router. I can log in with voice. I can use either viewer, the current versions of LL and Firestorm. So, I'm no networking guru - but that sounds wierd. Occam's razor implies fault is with your router.
Gryphon Ronas
So it would seem, yes. Except for two things. I just pulled my previous router out of the closet, and it exhibits the exact same bahavior - and - There apparently is a sudden rash of voice problems, as evidenced by other posts, some of which even show a screenshot of the error pop-up I am getting, and the issue does appear valid based upon this grid status entry: [postED 04 August 2013 12:55 PM PDT] Some residents in-world may be experiencing difficulty using voice chat. We are currently checking with our service provider to obtain an ETA on their return to service and will update as soon as we have further information. Freya Mokusei
Interesting for sure. Maybe your reactivation of Voice service was due to a change in your gateway making it easier for connection to be established. It's always fun seeing where things break and why, I'd be running a battery of tests on my connection if I were you.
shug Maitland
This has been a grid wide issue since some time Friday (at least). Finally made it to the Grid Status page Sunday afternoon. We could wish for a better response time at what is supposed to be the official notification page for problems.
