Online Status - I missed that

In the general discussion forum http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Online-status/m-p/2120455#U2120455 Amethyst says that http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlRequestAgentData and such functions that return online status no longer work.

As old hands here will know I've been away from SL for a couple of years and although I thought I'd kept up with LSL changes I must have missed that one.  Anything else I ought to know about?

My recollection is that the LL decided to honor the viewer preferences option to not show online status.  There was an early plan to extend that to LSL functions.  Push back about broken content plus the other means available to obtain the online status left the LSL functions as they were.

Not long ago I made a on-line status object to confirm it still worked.  So I'm better than  50% confident in my recollection.

 edit: I just tested and it's working so I'm better than 90% confident.

It was another of those tempest in a teapot episodes that we have in SL every year or two.  Like most, it died quietly as the rhetoric cooled.
