Has she been under a lot of stress recently?

Really, though, we don't have any control over whether hands are open or closed.  Hand motions are in a category of internal animations that Linden Lab calls "viewer- generated motions."  That means they are generated at run time by the viewer, in response to the environment. Like regular animations most have names and UUIDs, but they are not available to be stopped, started or even seen by scripts.  As far as we are concerned, they are random.

It might be part of a pose in your AO.  Or maybe you are stuck from, say, holding a drink.  Use Me/Stop Animating Me (in Firestorm, Avatar/Avatar Health/Stop Animations, or simply Avatar/Stop Animations.)  See if that unclenches your hands.

If not, try one of the free stop animations/fix deformations gadgets out there.  There is one, a gray cone, near the arrival point at Caledon Oxbridge University, if you don't have one of your own.
