Can you patent your Secondlife creations?

If you have a unique new idea, for a product or service, can you patent it in SL? Are RL patents enforceable in SL?

Hi, i guess a RL patent still apply to SL products too. But that would be an incredible part on time and money.

SL scripts are just like any other Software, so that already has a kind of copyright. However enforce the rights is only good for lawyers to become rich :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:

Patents are more the way to do things than an exact final product. So what you are looking for is a Trademark or Copyright.

Just as a hint. Look at the war between Samsung and Apple or Google and .... that shows how tough it is for some products to enforce your rights.

You would need to consult a patent lawyer in the appropriate jurisdiction, of course, but I am pretty certain you can't anywhere patent (or copyright) ideas, only their implementation.
