That is so not true (everyone who said imvu sucks)! IMVU is soooo awesome! Second Life is great too, but it's too realistic... it's a fantasy world... Plus, genitals are overrated anyways... ( Cuz Second Life has like overly-detailed genitalia).

Lol that's because SL is very much considered a 3D porn site as well as a chat site as well as a game. I've been there for a bit now...and about 87% of Sl users are overly sexual.....as for IMVU they are not...some are but most aren't. And you have to purchase and verify your age to even see Avatars naked. SL minors come on all the time and adults act with them like they would to some one of age. Kind of gross if you ask me. So IMVU is more of a younger crowd but they also have a ton of adults on there and IMVU does extremely well to keep the two from encountering one another in such ways. Minors can't even buy sexual clothing since they aren't allowed to without a access pass that now has to be bought with a CC and another form as age proof...they prefer ID cards and I'm sure some of those could be stolen from parents, but in SL they come in and they don't need anything. SL creators strive to make more realistic objects as for IMVU they are very limited to what IMVU allows them to put in the catalog. Both sites offer the basics, log in create a look chat with people from all over in the form of some thing that is not you, take on a new life, take on a story line, role play, anything. SL is for adults so everything on there will be more sexualized and targeted towards sex. IMVU will always be a site where people can go and not have people trying to hump them in every message they recieve....So to split the two.... IMVU is rated family....with a night time channel...lawl....Second Life is rated XXX with a life time channel of rated XXX....

I believe the latest Pew Research report had it at 86.35% overall. The number varies and will typically be highest between 7 and 11 PM PDT (when most of the West Coast people are inworld).

I have to strongly disagree that SL is a 3D porn site or targeted to sex.  Unless you hang out in areas where it goes on or go looking for it, you don't have to see or be bothered by anything sexual in SL.  You can go around SL forever and never see or hear anything sexual depending on where you go.  The overwhelming number of people that I know that have partners or a gf or bf keep any sexual activity they may engage in private just like adults do in RL.  From what i've seen and heard of IMVU, there is a lot of sexual activity that goes on there too.

I've been to IMVU for a long time whenver I enter a chat room I always see avatars with a lot of "emo-thing" going on it really shows on their avatar if you know the emo thing craze back then you'll understand 2008-2009, my first expereince in IMVU was so bad for a beginner people would look down on you because you are a young upstart. I was distressed about how many rude and very rude people I met there (probably as everyone says: younger audience) my experience there was bad I don't know if I am going back (I've forgotten my account already!)

In SL sure I met the same rude people but I really met some nice people in some "Low-traffic world" I got the finest, coolest, more real stuff, that made me stayed at SL.

I've been on IMVU for three going on four years. Yeah there are some immature people there, and yeah you can't walk around, but in my personal opinion, it's miles better. You have the argument here that they don't like it as much cause it's catered to younger people. I have that argument in reverse, I have met only a handful of people on SL within five years of 18, I just turned 19. I like talking to people my age, and I like having clothes catered towards youth. IMVU supplies these for me. It's much easier to work, though I don't find SL to be extremely hard once you get used to it. Another big problem I have with SL is time after time I've ran into some old people who want to be young, so they try to act young. Then they attack me because I am young. Because I talk and act like a teenager, and while they try to do so they fall short, and try to start a fight. I've run into people time and time again that get pissed if I walk around in a funny costume or with an avatar that has a distorted body. If someone's having fun and not bothering you I don't really see how it's your business how they dress, or how they act when they are hanging with their friends. Another HUGE thing I don't like on SL is that people don't bother to check my profile, I get dozens of messages when I go to chat rooms of 50, 60 year old men who want to have sex. I ain't about that life, and even worse is they're straight men who fail to check my brother and see though I have a pretty female avatar cause female clothes are nicer, I am a man. I am a gay man, and this always seems to make them blow their top when I reject them and tell them I'm gay. Then I'm shot with accusations of leading them on, being a **bleep**, homosexual slurs, and being called a catfish. At least on IMVU people have the decency to check my chat and see if I'm say in a relationship, or.. A MALE.

Yeah Secondlife is nice, I like it sometimes, but when it comes down to it, it's not as good for the younger generation as it is for the older, it's 100% more laggy than IMVU, and it's not a program you can just jump into to have a five minute conversation before you run off to do something. Meanwhile, IMVU is a quick-loading, chat based program that is perfect for this.

I am not impressed with IMVU Customer service.  Their customer service for customers is less than desirable.  They take money from Customers and then lock them out of their account in less than a month. I've spent $530 on two avatars there for chat (for family and friends that are not on the same continent, credits, AP status for both and name registered, VIP for a year, purchased chat, items and shared room.  I am still being denied access there and its been close to a week without service,   They have caused grief and loss of sleep by denying me as a customer with a secobd avatar.  I'm not sure why an establishment would sell items then deny the service.  Shame.  I have been looking at SL it does have adult content and no extra fee other than for land.  I am so discusted with online IMVU chat that I don't even know that I want to even bother.  I am viewing the cost for the Linden dollar and it does not make sense I'm thiking its too expesive.  I really do not care for walking or flying around however I am saddened by the way I am being treated as an customer beining denied access to my avatars that have been fully set up with over 20 rooms between both of the avatars.

I've spent $530.00 which is a fortune that was planned for a full year of use not just 28 days for my two avatars there for chat (for family and friends that are not on the same continent), credits, AP status and age verified for both of the avatars and I believe that they check it for being over 25 years of age; for both avatars I am name registered, VIP for a year, purchased chat, items and shared room.  I am still being denied access there and its been close to a week without service,   They have caused grief and loss of sleep by denying me as a customer with a secobd avatar.  I'm not sure why an establishment would sell items then deny the service.  Shame on their customer service. I am not sure how to get this rectified.  I was promised VIP chat however the vip chat does not work for bot avatars, nor I am getting help in customer service its like I am being talked over and spaining is going on - I'm discusted with IMVU and hope it gets resolved quickly.
