Barbara Novelli
This is the third wish I'm posting today for any genies or genius out there. Is there a way for SL to detect when a language other than English is being spoken and then have this trigger a buzzer or flashing lights or some other humerous response? I would like to discourage ESL students from using their first languages while in classes in SL But when I have large groups of students or groups of students where a majority of the students speak the same mother tongue, this can be difficult. Stickman Ingmann
Google auto-translate used to be used a lot. But the API is now restricted to paying customers. You could try Bing's translate, which doesn't seem to have such restrictions. Just beware of false positives. Easiest way to avoid those (in my guess) would be to make sure X number of words and a total length of Y is used. Pulling apart any inworld freebie translator can get you the starting point you need. Barbara Novelli
Thanks for the suggestions. I was worried about false positives. I'll play with your suggestions.
