I really want to use the Second Life viewer or the Phoenix Firestorm viewer but every time I try to open them a box pops up saying they "quit unexpectedly." I delted them and deleted their caches and tried to do a clean reinstallation but the same thing keeps happening over and over again. The only viewer that will open and work is Imprudence but I'm not a big fan of it. How do I fix this so that I can use the Second Life or phoenix viewer without it quitting unexpectedly? Help!! thank you!

Also I am using a MAC OS X (10.5.8) and my internet specifications (not really sure what that means) is norml airport wifi. I usually don't have any problems with my connection.

Could you please post your computer and internet connection specifications Ariealis? It's hard to help without knowing anything at all. Please DO NOT start a new thread, you can add text using "Options" > "Edit" at the top right corner of your question, or press "Permalink" under a reply.

Well, the first problem is almost certainly the fact that you are on wifi instead of a solid LAN cable connection.  Wifi is not recommended for Second Life.  It was never designed to handle the heavy, continuous flow of data that SL expects, and it is vulnerable to all sorts of interference. That is especially true if you are on a public "airport wifi" router.  If your wifi signal is interruprted or corrupted, you will lose connection and "quit unexpectedly."

Thank you for your update Ariealis. Your specs explain it all. First of all, you need at least Mac OSX 10.6.6 to run latest viewers such as SL official one or Firestorm. Imprudence is way less demanding from your mac's system, that's why you are able to use it. Moreover, it is not recommended at all to use airport wifi: SL requires not only a strong but a constant and stable internet connection that wifi doesn't offer. Any speed variation of the bandwidth will eject you and make you crash. Use a regular Ethernet cable plugged directly from your modem to your Mac.

To make it short, if your Mac can handle it, upgrade to Snow Leopard (at the minimum) or ideally to Lion or Mountain Lion. Check the Apple forums for tips, recommendations and prices. Good luck!
