Multiple items can't be dragged from inventory to rezzed item, but same items can be dragged 1 by 1?

Update
This behavior seems to be down to something specific to my personal setup. I pulled out an ancient laptop and installed the latest Second Life viewer. I couldn't get the weird copy/move behavior I described in my original question below. So, before I go on to reinstalling the viewer from scratch on my main machine where this problem is occurring, does anybody have any idea what could be causing what I describe below? Thanks!
Further Update
I've decided to go ahead and re-install the Second Life Viewer from scratch. Though I lost some of my viewer configuration settings, it was something I knew would work after I discovered this very strange behavior wasn't affecting me on another machine.
Anybody that wants to do an fresh install to fix a problem like this can find what needs to be deleted at the url below.

While it's leaving the cause of the issue unknown, this can be fixed by the fresh install described in the URL above, or by installing a third-party viewer. So, I'm going to set this one to "answered," since I couldn't find another mention of anything like this. If it happens, just re-install or install a new viewer.
Thanks, everybody!

I may install the third-party viewers, anyway. I simply haven't because I've just returned to SL after a very long absence. Still, even if going to Firestorm will work, it's possibly for the best of the community as a whole if we can figure out if this is a problem simply with my particular setup, or if it is something that many users are likely to duplicate.
As for how I am dragging the items, the same behavior happens whether I am dragging into the "Contents" folder, the "Open" item box, or directly into the rezzed item by holding CTRL when hovering over the item.
Original Question
Using the latest, non-beta Linden viewer under Windows Vista x64, I have been having problems dragging multiple items from my inventory into rezzed items I am trying to use as containers. However, if I try to drag the same items into the same containers one at a time, there is usually no problem.
The behavior manifests itself by showing the red "not allowed" icon when I move the mouse cursor over the rezzed container's "contents" box after selecting multiple items (items, not folders, mind you) in my inventory.
The container items are always my creations, and therefore I have full permissions on the items I am trying to load. As far as the items I am trying to move, I have tested this using every possible combination (e.g., multiple full-permissions items, some full-perm items and some no-transfer items, etc.). In every case, I cannot move/copy any set of multiple items.
I have tried this on multiple sims over the last week, with varying levels of traffic and currently rezzed items.
I have tried clearing my cache. I have tried disabling HTTP inventory, and I have tried re-enabling HTTP inventory—in each case, relogging with a clearing of the cache after making the change from enabled to disabled.
Once, I was able to drag two at a time, but no more. While this was happening, I experimented with combining differing permissions items from my inventory, and in each case, I could always drag one or two items at a time, but never more.
Another time, after dragging the first item, I was not able to drag a single second item. However, after deleting an item in the folder with the items I was trying to drag into the container, I was able to drag one more item, but then no others until I had deleted another item.
As far as I remember, this is the full extent of my issues. If I encountered other odd behaviors, I have either forgotten them or I didn't notice them.
Any ideas on this one? It is weird! :matte-motes-wink:
