just my luck to use a third party exchange for the first time a few days before the TOS changed,I lost my money to the third party exchange and although sending two tickets asking for a refund i got no answer each time just the tickets removed, so im glad the TOS have changed, to protect anyone else from losing their money like i have, its too late for me of course they are now closing their business down

ooops, sorry you didn't find a trustworthy rep, like I've used or this past 4 year with absolute safety. Sad to see my trusted exchange thrown out.

Oh well, I'll be waiting till the day LL lowers their exchange rates and... can pull their fingers out and get modern data installed so my money arrives in pay pall as soon as I hit 'send'. NOT 5 days!!!!

Till then I'd rather give my linden dollars away.

Contact your Credit Card Company, and file a claims dispute that the product was never delivered get your money back that simple, or PayPal, only use reputable companies when doing virtual good exchanges aka a way you know you get your cash back.

Hi, thankyou for your replies. The reason i chose them was because they were recommended to me by my friends who all used them and told me they were trustworthy, they were a very popular exchange with ATMs all over SL, including somewhere they had their business premises so you could visit them inworld, maybe i was just the unlucky one here, because i didnt get a response by sending them a ticket twice, which had an automated reply that a representative would contact me very soon.both tickets just disappeared and i had a message telling me to start a new one. no one contacted me, i went to their premises inworld and of course it is too late they have packed up and gone already. although it isnt a huge amount to lose, it couldve been worse, it equaled to 3,500L$, i have still lost it, and its something i desperately needed to pay my rent with. when i paid for the L$ on the third party exchange site it said the transaction had failed, so i tried again, second time fine, money immediately credited to my exchange account. a few days later in my bank statement tells me the transaction that was supposed to have failed actually didnt it went through,so i paid twice for one amount of L$, and i didnt get anything in return so thats when i contacted them, i was too late the TOS had just come into force. the only option i have left now is my bank, i paid using my bank card i dont have a credit card, i shall tell them the situation to see if i can get my money refunded. Its sad that even exchanges that were popular and supposed to be trustworthy can do this. Even if the TOS hadnt changed i still wouldnt have purchased L$ again from a third party again, not after that experience.

You're not alone in this. What happened to you is not an isolated incident by any stretch of the imagination.

All the people so very much against this new TOS and the halt placed on TPE owners will disagree, however. This is one of the positive effects of the new TOS and halt. As much as people don't want to believe, or see it, this sort of thing does happen. The new rules, prevent it from being able to, and it's a very good thing.

It might not matter to the others who have had nothing but a good experience, but it matters tremendously to the people that have had bad experiences, or worse been bent over and violated without so much as a dinner or kiss on the cheek. We all know these cases exist, we've seen complaints on these forums, other forums, blogs and the web. Though a lot of them got removed here, eventually, typically for naming the TPE I can bet. There are plenty of horror stories out there.

I'm not saying whether or not the new rules are a good, or bad, thing. I am simply saying there are some pros, and this happens to be one of them.

I really hope the person who owns that TPE makes you whole again. I can imagine how frustrating this is to you. The money amount doesn't much matter to me. No one should be screwed out of their money, it's just not right.

Hi everyone, thankyou for all your help amd advice with clearing up this matter. After one last attempt at getting my L$ either paid into my exchange account or refunded to my bank, I'm pleased to say that my final ticket was delt with immediately  at the TPE and the L$ i was missing have now been credited to my account, so all i need to do now is get them out of an ATM as soon as they are back online. :matte-motes-grin:

ATM's will not come back on line.  LL has instructed all TPE to remove any and all scripted objects from SL and cease doing any business.  You will have to exchange your L's now for either another currency to use in another game or cash them back out and eat the fees.

According to the TPE im using this is what they have been asked to do by LL: As to all the other third party exchanges Linden Lab has summed us to end all our exchange activities by Monday morning San Fransisco time.

I have been told by the TPE that their ATMs are back online at 10 cet time, so i'm holding out hope that they will indeed be back online, and that i will still find one available to wthdraw from. If there are any linden dollars left in the account after that they have said they will refund them.

I am afraid this new TOS will make many residents disapear from sl, because those third party services are populair among european users, who can't or want to make use from credit cards or paypal. I am using DX exhange for 4 years now, it is fast and reliable, with a good service and exchange ratings. and accepted several payment methods like Ideal.

This change of TOS is forcing me to close my shops and sell my sims.

The worst thing of changing the TOS is that Linden lab shows again that investing in secondlife is not safe

DX exhange had a real world registered company and office, and they informed with a public message they had to close within a few days notice !  

30 days to comply to the new TOS would be fair

Who will be the next victim of Linden labs ?

My own experiences of getting money to Linden Labs from Europe are varied, but the TPE I used was reliable and quick. In the last year, Linden Labs have become unreliable and a card which I have used, without problems, with other US-based companies, has started to fail for payments to Linden Labs. There has been no new card issued and it has not expired.

My Paypal account, which was set up a decade ago, works well.

If there has been something funny happening with a TPE, it might justify a sudden change, but Linden Labs haven't said said anything to justify why they seem to have broken their own rules on changing the TOS.

Linden Labs need to get their act together, and fast.

(I am glad the original poster is getting things sorted out. But, everyone, stay calm. The TPEs have been hit with a huge problem because of this change, and Linden Labs actions. This isn't the sort of automated transaction they usually do: every customer is suddenly a special case. They may even be winding up their business. Not every TPE might come under banking regulations, but I suppose every one which trades in more than one real-world currency will have to follow some special procedures.They're as much victims as we are.)

Same problem here Labs dont accept enough payment methods - i can understand , to a certain extent , them wanting to monitor the outflow of  Lindens , but preventing a large number of outside USA customers from buying Lindens does seem to be crazy.

Not everybody wants to or can put in credit card details and the same applies to Paypal accounts , still require details .

The Exchange I have used for years is closed - none of the remaining exchanges accept either Paysafe or Ucash .

If you are selling enough inworld to justify "cashing out" on a regular basis , good for you . I for one now won't be able to buy from you .
