Question

Posted

I access my SL account everyday and did so just last night. I have tried to log in now and it says "Login Failure" Second Life cannot be accessed from this computer?

I am very confused and need to get in urgently to feed my breedable cats!

Can someone kinldy please shed some light on this matter?

Many thanks

The normal reason for that message is that you or someone else at the same IP address has done something VERY bad, so Linden Lab has put a permanent ban on the computer.  If you have been using a router that is shared by several people (a public router in a coffee shop or college residence hall, for example), then someone else may have been at fault.  In any case, the way to lift the ban, if it can be lifted, is to submit a support ticket with all of the details.

There is a slim chance that the problem is not a ban at all but a failure of your router or its DNS assignments.  First of all, try just unplugging the router from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its memory.  It will get a fresh grasp in an IP address when you plug it back in again.  If that doesn;t work, try adding the Google DNS addresses to whatever your own ISP has provided by default.  Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/
