It is impossible to give you an answer because you haven't told us enough information.  What happens when you try to log in to SL?  When does it fail?  Exactly what does the error message say?  You can also provide us with better information about your computer and its Internet connection.

You do not need to log in to do this:

1. Click on the Second Life icon on your desktop, as if you are going to log in.  Instead of logging in, however ....

2. Look in the upper left corner of the screen for the Help link.  When you click that, select About Second Life.

3. In the window that opens, click the button that says Copy To Clipboard.

4. Come back here to your question, click the Options link in the upper right corner, and select EDIT.

5. Paste the information from your clipboard into your question here (use CTRL + V), and submit it.  Please do not start a new question.

If you can provide that information, someone here should be able to give you a better answer.
