Hello all,

I've been working on creating my own first decent face shape for maybe.. a week now. I'm not sure. It's proven to be challenging for me. Anyways, I've come here to ask of you opinions on what I could do to improve on it... It is based on a proportional human face the best that I could manage. I've also included two SL snapshots of my ava's face. There are two different eye types I've created. One larger, one smaller. I would like to know which of the two you find to suit the face better. (:

Thank you!

If you would have posted just the top image I would have said: 'Great job'. If you would have posted just the bottom image I would have said: 'Great job' too. I stared and stared and could barely see any difference. Because I really wanted to see the differences I downloaded both of them and opened them in photoshop and layered them. I go for #1.

No 1 is my favourite.

I know you did'nt ask for comments on this but... I prefer eyebrows which are a little less "high".

This really is a very nice face - well done!

Personally I like to go for larger eyes but as you can see people also like slightly smaller ones as well. So I geuss just go with what oyu like it's a nice looking face either way so no worries with eiither that you pick

The face shape looks lovely. The only thing I would change is the eyebrows. They are a little to high for my taste - but remember that is just personal preference and it only matters what you think.

Thank you everyone for your input! It was greatly appreciated. ^.^ I will probably go with #2 now. I mighht mix them together a bit, but I'm not sure.

Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, I was asleep. Hehe.

IMO the face "shapes" aren't very good. The skin has fooled most people so kudos to the skin maker. I'm not trying to be negative here but you asked for advice. My recommendation would be to use several different skins to understand what I mean.

You basically have an oval for a face, not very realistic.

Unfortunately the SL face shape has limited possibilities to tweak it into different shapes.  So indeed the skin does play a great role - even a major role - in making nice appearance.

I think oval face shape looks as realistic as any other face shape.  I even tend to think that it's the most beautiful face shape for a female.  Just a personal preference.

The lady on the left below has pretty much ovalish face shape.

I'd actually classify it as somewhere between an oval and a round face shape. Which, by the way, lots of people have. In fact, I have an oval face in RL, and my sister has a round face. I'm not sure why you feel those face shapes are unrealistic, because they're very common in actual, real people.

Personally, I might elongate the face just a little bit. I don't particularly care for round faces; or rather, I would not choose to HAVE a round face, which may be due to the fact that I have an oval face myself. The face in the OP's image looks a little "squished" to me. However, that's largely proportion. The eyebrows are high and the forehead is comparatively short, as is the chin. But it is a nice shape, even though it is probably not one I might choose for myself. It's certainly not outside the realm of possibility for a RL face.

I really didn't intend to get into a technical debate but...

The following image is from Beauty.com and it pertains to measuring ones face to find the shape.

Your example is closer (to me), of a heart shape and not an oval. (I don't have the measurements to be sure) :matte-motes-wink:  Her chin is more pointed and her cheekbones are high, not mid-point as with an oval. I suppose I should have been more exact in my explanation of an oval. I was referring to a technical oval since we are discussing graphics here. A true oval is more of an egg shape. Your example of an oval face is, in this illustration, more of a round face.

An oval for a face is not the same as an oval face if you want to be precise. I agree with the limitations SL has but they can be overcome with patience. I appreciate the discussion though. It may help the OP in some way to get the face she wants.

I'm glad you both see what I see and added to the discussion. It's difficult to see "through" the skin so to speak. My reply was short because I didn't really want to nitpick the shape as everyone has different personal preferences. I've made conservatively 100's of custom shapes (primarily the face) in my time here and have a good idea of what I am doing.

I doubt there is a "perfect" face for SL and hopefully wasn't too terse in my reply.
