im a cloud

for the past few days whenever i log into sl,i see myself as a cloud,my friends can see me fine..i use cool vl viewer and i have tried other viewers,all my inventory is downloaded,i have checked my graphics..im stumped in over 3 years this has never happened...hopefully someone can help

The easiest fix is ctrl+alt+r. That will rebake your avatar. You might have to do this several times.

The one that always works for me is to open my Library, find a complete outfit in the Clothing folder (I use Girl Next Door), and drag and drop it onto my avatar. It's kind of like character testing, but character testing doesn't ever seem to work for me. This does. Once the default avatar you chose loads, you can replace your preferred items on your avatar.

Otherwise, here's a pretty good guide for how to fix a bake fail. There's a list there of fixes; go down the list until something works, then STOP.

Follow Ariel's advice.

You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page she gave you. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. Then plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.

If all else fails, wait a couple of weeks.  Linden Lab is poised to throw the switch that will activate the final (?) phase of Server Side Avatar Baking, which is supposed to do away with this problem forever.  I assume that Henri Beauchamp is updating the CoolVR viewer to adjust for the code change, so you will be cured if you upgrade.
