Accidentally changed the permissions on a gift that was meant to pass through one friend's hands....

...and into another's to no transfer. Now he's got the box of gifts and can't pass it to her. I screwed up, I just came back to the game and I'm really rusty. I need help. He can verify that I messed up. I'm not sure how else to contact support, I hope this is the right venue.

Unfortunately not. This is the answers forum, and the Lindens don't come here. Ever. It's a resident-to-resident help forum. You can, however, contact support by submitting a ticket. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll do much for you.

Do you still have a copy in your inventory? If so, you can simply resend it. If not, however, perhaps support will at least be able to tell you if there's a way to change the permissions now.

Unfortunately, there is no way to set "third owner" permissions.  You can set permissions for the second owner, but once the object is in that person's hands, you have no fiurther control over it. That makes it awkward for creators that want to give items to a merchant for resale and have to trust that the merchant will set the items to No Transfer for the third owner.  You're in that spot now.  If you had given the box of gifts with transfer permissions, your friend could have given them to anyone without resetting the perms.  By setting the box to No Trans, though, you made it so your friend can't give them to anyone at all.  Either way, the result isn't ideal. 

There's no way to recover except to send your friend a new gift box with the correct perms this time.
