Question

Posted

Since the Age Verification through the website is gone, I have no idea where or how to enable adult settings. I have it checked in my Preferences under the General tab, but am unable to search for anything other than General or Mature.

Is there a way to change this? I don't remember putting in my DOB when signing up, and I just put my payment info on file which I thought would be enough but still have no access to adult settings.

You had to indicate your birthdate when you signed up.  If you are able to select Moderate in Preferences, then you should also be able to select Adult, since you would have to be over 18 to enter either Moderate or Adult areas.  If you cannot select Adult for some reason, submit a support ticket to request a review of your status.  Linden Lab may ask you to provide documented evidence of your age.

The instructions are here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Accessing-Adult-land-and-content/ta-p/805975#Section_.4

As Rolig says, though, the fact it lets you choose General and Mature suggests you should be able to choose Adult too.

You have to set your search preferences separately, as I recall, in the Search window.   Sometimes changes to preferences there take a while to stick -- I have no idea why.

Just for the record, I experience the same problem. I tried to create an issue about this in the bug tracker, but got the answer "Jira is not for 1:1 personal technical support and is therefore not able to provide one to one support in a timely manner."

Until recently I was able to select "adult" in the search. Since about a week (or two?), the checkbox is grayed, telling me that "this content is blocked due to your maturity settings". However my "maturity settings" in Preferences/General/access content does include "adult". Moreover I can still go in adult-rated areas.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried doing a clean reinstall of the viewer? That is, deleting all the stuff, manually, from all the folders (including those in, in Windows 7, .appdata/roaming and local? It sounds to me as if some cookie or something in search has got stuck.
