Water in SL?? What & how??? Cannot fill pond or swim - please help :)

HI, does anyone know please what I can do to fill a small pond with water [or that it looks and sounds like water!!]  Also I have tried pool after swimming pool and HUD after hud but my avi will not swim unless the water is out of her depth....Please help I have two pools and a river ...Just want to swim LOL.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Water comes in two flavors.  There is Linden Water, which exists on every sim (generally at a height of 20m, but not always),and  there is "prim"water, which is just a semi-transparent prim that is textured to look like water.  A good swim HUD will let you swim in either kind of water, but you always have to go through some configuration steps.   Swimming in Linden Water --- the ocean or a lake or river that is dug to the water table in your sim --- is easiest and usually requires no real magic.  At most, you have to tell the HUD that you will be in Linden Water and it does the rest.  Swimming in prim water --- a pool -- requires you to tell the HUD what the water level is.  The instructions that come with your HUD will tell you how to do that.  If they don't or if you have lost the instructions, contact the creator and ask.

Thank you very much for your help. Can i buy Linden water to fill a small pond ? And can you recommend a swim HUD [i think i probably have them all but i will persevere with the one you suggest ] last question can you make the movement, direction arrows for editing line up again? Mine suddenly went on a twist and i have ended up 'tacking'to get anything in a straight line????

You can't buy Linden Water. It's part of what makes a sim. Every sim. The water table is at a defined height --- the same all over the sim. If you (or the landowner) digs a deep enough hole, you'll hit water. So, if you want a pond with Linden Water, you have to be able to dig a hole and hit the water table. Just like in RL. If you want prim water instead, you either make it yourself (rez a prim, add a water texture, make it semi-transparent amd phantom) or you buy a pool that someone has already done that for.

I really can't recommend a specific swim HUD, mostly because it has been ages since I bought mine and I don't remember where I got it. Just visit lots of places in world and test drive their HUDs to see what they do. Almost any reputable shop has a demo.

As for movement.... That's the same challenge you face whenever you move ... walking.... flying, swimming .... Frankly, I never touched that silly movement control i=on screen, even when I was a newbie. It's awkward and a waste of screen space. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Thank you very much for that help .....it is a pool at the top of a pyramid so will try to make some prim water, new challenge lol...and also advice with arrow keys have never tried so will do.
