Don't just try "several" fixes.  Try them all, in order, from the top down.  See the full list of possibilities here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today.

Now that the SSB-enabled viewers have been released, we are almost ready for full release of the Server Side Baking project, which will make this problem a thing of the past.  If absolutely nothing else works, then, be patient.  In a week or so bake fail will be no more.  /me has fingers crossed.

You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. Then plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.

@Marysue202 --- You don't. Your username is forever. It cannot be changed under any circumstances. Merchants count on that so they always know who they are selling to. Landowners depend on being able to identify renters and recognize griefers. Because we are free to make huge changes to our appearance, all of us depend on being able to recognize the people we meet by the one thing that we know can never change --- the username. If you really want to use a different name for convenience, use a Display name. It's like a nickname in RL, so your friends can know you by a personal name, even if the official one is always there in the background. Many people, like me, will choose not to see a Display name, for the reasons I just outlined. Many will, though. Give it a try. It's your only choice, after all.
