Why can't I write a new review after deleting my old review from the Marketplace?

I wanted to change a review that I wrote, so I deleted my review hoping I could write a new one after that. However when I now click "Write a review!" it says:

"Your review for this item was flagged and has been removed. You may not leave another review for this item."

I don't think that this is quite fair for the seller, considering I was about to write a better review than the previous one.

It could have been the seller who flagged your review and had it removed. Although I wasn't aware of this restriction, it makes sense that Linden Lab would not allow someone create another review after just removing one it considered unfair from that same person.

If you removed it yourself, that is rather odd. If it was flagged before you removed it, or if LL removed it, it makes sense that they wouldn't allow you to review the same item if they considered the first review unfair.

Personally, I think (not sure here) that you can EDIT reviews, instead of deleting them. I would do that, instead.

Actually I think it is more.  I just reviewed an item and wanted to change it beause I made an error.  To do that you have to remove it and then write it again because there is no edit option.  And when I did that five minutes after I written the first one it gave me that message and it was a postive review (4 stars!). The seller can't be that quick and why would he want to flag a positive review? Unless he wanted five stars.

The same thing happened to me. We are supposed to be able to edit our reviews but I was unable to find a way to do it so I likewise deleted the review to replace it with an updated version and was greeted with the same notice. Like the other person replying (helpfully), I left a positive review with four stars and a recommendation that members try the product. I had intended to add something which may have helped it get better search results: only a fool would remove such a review. I was also the only person thusfar to actually write a review for that product.

If you check http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/Beware-New-Review-MP-bug/m-p/1980379/highlight/true#M33960 it appears to be a recent problem plaguing a number of us. This Topic also mentions how to report this problem so we may see it fixed sometime.
