It's not easy.  Unskilled jobs are not common and, as in RL, don't usually pay well.  If you are a skilled performer (DJ. musician, dancer ...) and have the appropriate equipment, you can visit clubs and peforming venues to let people know who you are ...  maybe audition.  There aren't many other kinds of jobs in SL where you work for someone else.  Creators (scripters, designers, builders, animators ....) tend to work by themselves and sell their own products.  Merchants don't usually need shop help.  You can get some idea of the sorts of jobs people do by reading here >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Guide_to_Jobs_in_Second_Life .   If you have some skill and want to attract a potential client or employer, you can try posting in the InWorld Employment forum too.

In addtion to the answer you already got from Rolig:

- You can find jobcenters inworld where some people present their business and what open positions they have. Usualy they require you to fill out a notecard with questions.

- Most jobs outside of the creationsection require a good looking avatar, be sure to have already invested in your avatars apperance.

- Be over 30 days old.

- Fill out your profile a little, that makes a better first impression on others.
