SL Crashes when I try to change settings- Please Help!

I can play SL on the lowest settings, but when I even try to change the graphics (doesn't matter which setting), when its not on low- it crashes instantly.

 

I never used to have this problem, I used to be able to run it fine on ultra, now I can't use anything but low.

 

I've tried reinstalling the viewer, and even tried older versions of it. Is there anything I can do to?

 

 

I use Firestorm 4-3-1-31155 and my laptop is an ASUS with window's 8, graphics card : Integrated Intel® HD Graphic 4000

You may have damaged something.  As one tech reviewer noted, "casual gamers that won't mind reducing the quality settings in high end games, may be happy with the performance of the HD Graphics 4000."  If you've been running it on Ultra, you may have overheated it. Before you panic,  try (1) updating the graphics drivers and (2) disabling Basic Shaders in Preferences → Graphics .  If those don't help, then try clearing your settings.  Then, if that doesn't work, panic.
