My account will be nine years old on the 23rd April.  Wow.

Some marraiges don't last that long! lol

Anyway, I wanted to post some pictures of what SL looked like when I was new in 2004. I will prolly forget on the actual rez day so I thought I would do it now, whilst its fresh in my mind... I am getting old you know?.... :matte-motes-big-grin-squint:

Congratulations on having such staying power.

The photos are great.  I met that giraffe in 2008 I believe, and it gave me a funny feeling in my tummy when I saw your photo, and how I felt when I was a lost little n00b.

I've seen many people come to these forums saying their original avatar dates back to 2004/2003, and I wonder why then they don't use that avatar.  What a glorious surname you have! I wish Linden Lab would bring back surnames.

Bring back the Filth ! (And the Sunshine)

Awesome pics :D Thanks for sharing them!

Marigold, I am betting that a lot of people with really old original rez dates have probably done the same thing I did. I first signed up for sl in 2004, but I didn't hang around too long. I came back some time later and decided I was going to stick around a little longer but wanted a different name. Made a new account, transferred some things, and never went back to the other. I stopped coming in to sl for a couple years while one of my kiddos was really sick.

In 2008 I made this av, got what I wanted off the old account and never looked back. Both of the old accounts have since been deleted from sl. One I closed, and the other was closed by the lab quite a while ago. I run into a lot of people who originally came to sl in 04-05-06, with pretty much the same story. They joined, eventually got bored and left, then later came back.

HAPPY 9th REZDAY!!!! (In advance.)

Thank you for sharing those photos. :)  The second photo avatar doesn't look too far off from today's standards.  Was the photo at the bar taken at The Blarney Stone Pub?  It looks a bit familiar but not sure if it has been around that long.

You had your own specific reasons for disappearing from Second Life for a while, and I hope your young one made a full recovery with the help of your tender loving care.

I expect people had many reasons for deleting an old account - still do in fact, as it does still happen.

Entirely new starts seem essential for some people too, as if it helps them erase their SL history.

But, I can't help feeling some people try and use the information that their original account dates back to 2003/2004 on the forums and inworld on their profile information, to try and big themselves up, when in actual fact, I just think it can make a person look quite unreliable and fickle.  (Only an opinion - and of course that does not really matter.) Plus, of course, in the early days, I realise no one would have known what to expect from Second Life, could not have predicted how much it would grow, and how much more there would be to become involved with. In fairness, I think I probably would have deleted my account if I'd joined in the early days.

And so, my previous paragraph is quite contradictory. I can see that. And I will admit that I have wanted to trash Marigold occasionally, but not since 2009, and that's usually been because things out in real life have been going pear-shaped, or the moon has been in Uranus, and this has had a knock-on effect with my Second Life.

The longer I have been known as this main avatar, the more comfy, like an old pair of leather shoes, I've felt being her.  I use alt accounts, some are known to others, some are not, but all of them make me feel a sense of detachment from anyone and anything really. This is why I came back to posting on my main account, after a spell in as Echo Hermit.

The name options only had a shelf life for so long.. I think once X amount of people chose it, it was removed. There were a few "Filths" back in the day but as you can imagine, many names were used to be racial or offensive so those particular accounts were deleted. As far as I know, I am the only Filth in SL ---- You can take that any way you like :) it's certainly been used against me over the years lol but it's a name people don't forget and for that, it's seved me well

I seriously think it's a great surname. Like Sideways, and Sunshine.  There's always going to be people that will unfortunately spoil it for the others, but I think I would have been called Richly Filth if I had had the chance of that surname.

Yes, I recall last names being available for several months; one or two seemed to make a comeback just before Resident became the default surname.  I can age some avatars if their last name was released after my own.  And I made some of my alts just because I liked the choice of surname.  Echo Hermit was made, because Hermit is like I tend to be, a little reclusive, and Echo, as in reflection of my main avatar. Plus it's easy to type. :matte-motes-smile:

According to SL Name Watch (pops) , there were only eleven accounts with the surname "Filth."  It is unkown how long it was available to choose.

I do that too!  I can see some surnames and estimate when they began SL.  I used to see a LOT of Zenovkas.  Now not so many - I think most of the remaining ones post on these forums. :)

EA wins hands down as they are global
BoA on the other hand, meh...

Do this poll for the US alone by blocking out all other ip`s and the voting may endup with the scores switched

Ofcourse, as usual, it remains just a stupid internet poll wich means jack**bleep** :)

ooo interesting.

I am waiting for the page to load but I am wondering if the accounts are active.

In my *ahem* nine years in SL (lol) I have never bumped into another Filth.Actually, that's a lie, I do recall seeing them when I was new but they were the offensive versions...

If I did meet another Filth,  I would be sending friend requests... it would be almost like we would be related.. lol

I do regret it at times.People tell me in hindsight they used to wonder if I started off as a striper or an escort and then discovered textures as an industry... eekk... lol

Using Legacy Search this is what I find.  Don't know a way to filter out those 'display names.'  You are the only one that the account (profile) looks obviously active.

A few years ago I did try and start a group, "The Juran Family Cousin's Club," but only got a few people to respond / join.

I have never bumped into another Utu in over 6 years, though it shows there were 600+ registrations.  Being such a large place, and most people's use being centric to their own genres, I wonder if it might not be that unusual to not meet the "relatives."

  • 8 months later...

Ya NIGHTMARE DENCH IS STILL ALIVE PEOPLE!

nightmaredench.hpage.com

He sold me one of the BEST clients in world. SLSOLDIER it is called. It was spendy but well worth it. Basicly makes you a LINDEN!!!!

There is so much lies and slander about the guy as he is hated by the lindens as an ex employee with secrets.

All you have to do to verify what I found is to leave a note on his site as I did, he emailed me and we met in world.

He showed me proof of a lawsuit against the PN that he won and so much more to back up what he has said for years.

Enjoy

Darling Brody
