0 valerie Inshan Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Have some reading in these links. (Note that among the 3D softwares needed to create mesh, Blender is free) Important : you must have payment information registered to upload mesh. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh/Creating_a_mesh http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2011/07/30/a-very-simple-guide-to-mesh-objects-in-sl/
0 Lindal Kidd Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 See Valerie's links for lots of information. A very short answer... 1. Blender. It's not simple, no 3D modeling software is "simple". But it is free! Sketchup is easier to use and also free, but you'll still need Blender to convert the model to Collada format, and Sketchup tends to make corrupt models. 2. You must save your model as a Collada (.dae) file. 3. You create a mesh object by building it in the 3D modeling software you are using. You use any of its tools to make the model look the way you want. Then you create a texture map for it, by painting on an "unwrapped" UV map template in GIMP or Photoshop. Then you save the completed model as a .dae file and upload it to SL.
