Can I create clothing with a basic account?

Of course!  I have been creating  and selling clothing successfully for 6 years and have always had a Basic account.

You can do ANYTHING with a basic account that you can do with a Premium account, except:

1. Own land, specifically mainland.
2. Visit Premium-only locations, such as Premium sandboxes.
3. Own a Linden home.
4. Access Live Chat for support.

That's pretty much it. I might have missed something, but those are the highlights of being Premium. You can still build, shop, buy Lindens, participate in events and activities, and visit almost anywhere on the grid with a Basic account.

Depending on what you are creating, you may need land. Search for 'sandboxes' to find region where you will be able to rez things and work. There are public and private sandboxes. The public ones tend to get over run with griefers. You usually need to join some group to use the private ones. If there is a JOIN fee, there will be fewer griefers.

There are also Premium snadboxes for those with a Premium account. They have almost no griefers.

There is also the ADITI or Preview Grid. Uploading textures and mesh models there is free*. But, those things cannot be brought into the main grid. It is a great test area.

*In ADITI you still pay an upload fee. But, you are given something like L$5,000 per month for free. ...and no you can't bring those L$ to the main grid.
