Menu objects start flashing after editing a script

I'm experiencing a very strange problem using the latest viewer. The beta viewer also seems to have the same problem. After I start editing a script inside an object, all the visible menu components like menu bars, dialogs etc. start flashing randomly. After the editor is closed the problem persists. The canvas of the game stays visible at all times, but all overlayed components such as menu bars and dialogs start flashing. I need to restart SL to get rid f the problem.

I'm using 32 bits Windows 8 and an Nvidia graphics card. Drivers are up to date. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem as it's very annoying. Even the editor itself is flashing so imagine trying to write code or debugging a script like that.

The script editor triggers the problem, as long as I stay away from it SL works normally.
