Angel Dakota Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Hello, Recently I have noticed that some sims I visit are completely blocked out in a kind of dark green/brown colour on the World Map. The Mini Map shows things as it always has (grey, blue blocks etc) but when I go to the World Map the entire sim area is this new colour and I cannot find what this means. Can anyone shed any light on this? ThanksA
Theresa Tennyson Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You see that when there's a "sim surround" that appears as landscape around the actual borders of the sim. The "bounding box" of the sim surround is actually the size of the entire sim. You don't see or notice it in-world because it's invisible and phantom but the map program isn't sophisticated enough to calculate this so it appears as a solid box over the entire sim.
Coby Foden Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Some regions have a megaprim 256 x 256 meters - covering the whole region - high up in the sky, blocking the view for the actual land features on the map. What I find rather annoying that some region owners use the world map as their personal ad board. They put textured megaprim in the sky and that will show in the map instead of the land features. Grrr... :smileymad: Like those heart textured megaprims, they are all over the grid. Map should be a map, not a place for ads.Region owner resident ---> <--- angry resident :smileytongue:
Angel Dakota Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thank you! This is a screengrab of it. Seems strange that its the only Sim in the area, and contains no advertising!
Amethyst Jetaime Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 What you are seeing there is a 256x256 megaprim above the sim that has a simple texture on it, probably grass or something like a sim surround that doesn't surround the sim but is designed to use above it.. Some people add these to their sims to have essentially a two or more story sim. It couldn't be a regular sim surround as the sim is connected to other sims and sim surrounds only work if the sim is surrounded on its four sides by the void or is a stand alone sim. The void shows as water on the map or when you are on the sim looking at it but you can't enter it.
JimHalssel Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 It means that when there's a "sim surround" they appears as landscape around the actual borders of the sim. While the "bounding box" of the sim surround is actually the size of the entire sim. However, you are not able to r notice it in-world map because it's invisible and phantom.
