This is probably a more appropriate place for these questions, sorry for the double post If I was to abandon a parcel when does the tariff payments end?, and/or what exactly is the process or processes to be rid of the tariff. I am sure this has been asked or written of 1000 times but I can't really find an answer. Also the sale of a section of group land how does the repayment split of that money get repaid to group members percentage wise, for example. 1 member (A) contributes to 512 (7.6%) another (B) 2048 (30.7%) and another (C) 4096 (61.54%), so 6,656 in total. I presume if say 70% of that parcel was sold at 1L a metre. Could I assume that the returns to each member would be directly proportional to the share of the overall holding. Therefore sale price of 70% of the parcel is 4659L The share value would be as follows A gets 354, B gets 1430 and C gets 2867. And again in this case when does cessation of tariffs occur. Thank you Cheers Neil

Welcome to Second Life Forums/Answers, Neil

Group members, regardless of their contribution, get an equal share of any proceeds made when group land is sold.

Tier fees are calculated and charged at the MAXIMUM holding you have at any time during your charging period. For example, if your charging period runs from 5th of each month, if you get rid of land today, even if it takes you to a lower tier level, you will still be charged as though you owned the land for the whole of the month.

There is much more to read up on regarding land, group land (which is tremendously complicated), tier fees, etc., on the official Knowledge Base.

Hope you don't mind if I piggyback on this topic, but it seems related.

I recently abandoned some land that was deeded to a group. I had donated all of the tier required for that land myself. Will that tier eventually be removed from my Land Use Fees listed on my Land Manager page, and if so, when? Hopefully before my next billing cycle so I can reduce my fees. Currently, I can't select the option to move myself to a lower tier fee.

Thanks!

Be sure to remove your tier contribution from the group (the Land & Assets tab of the group's info window). Otherwise you'll keep paying tier for that donation, whether or not the group is using it to own land.

I suspect that once you eliminate that group tier contribution, you'll then be able to adjust down your tier level, which I'd recommend. The setting of allowed tier level is not supposed to determine how much you'll get billed, but if you can't reduce that setting to where you think it belongs, something is wrong.

(Also, it's just generally a good practice to set that level where you really want it, so you'll get some warning if you accidentally buy above that level.)
