Why were my received items deleted from my inventory?

Okay, basically my entire "received items" folder has been deleted from my inventory. I had over 100 items sitting in there, and recently discovered that they were gone after I had looked for them. All there is is a bunch of dead links everywhere in my outfits. Is there a way to retrieve them? Does SL just automatically do this? I've spent well over $60+ Dollars on that inventory, and this is honestly outrageous. Please, give me some assistance.

I have tried reinstalling and deleting my cache, and even bought the Linden Delivery bear to see if the inventory was simply screwed up. Neither worked, and the items are still mysteriously gone from my inventory.

Sharing the cache folder between multiple viewers is the primary cause of “inventory loss” which many experience. It also frequently results in crashes or erratic behavior. Clearing your cache this way will “cure” certain kinds of texture or inventory issues and is the suggested procedure before resorting to more drastic steps like reinstalling the viewer.

See these instructions (from Firestorm but work for all viewers: replace "firestorm" by "seondlife" if you are using the official viewer).

The folder most likely isn't deleted, but the display is borked so that the button has gone missing. Try buying a free item from the Marketplace and see if it comes back then, for instance the Direct Delivery Bear: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Direct-Delivery-Linden-Bear/3290638
