She is more covered up than women in RL when they wear a bikini.  I can see more flesh a few blocks from my RL house located in a very respectable neighborhood in a very conservative city, by just taking a stroll to the river in the summer. 

If this woman was in a standard bikini posed exactly like that playing in the waves in a beach scene is that more acceptable?  Why?

I found myself thinking the same thing, I've seen people in bikinis less covered up. I don't think there's anything inappropriate about the picture, and the idea is not to sell sex, she isn't exactly va va voom appealing, it's to sell the idea that you can be whatever you want in SL, and as an example, they have what looks like a pixie or fairy to illustrate that.

Wow! This is when I was a little over 2 weeks old. November 2, 2006, my first SL concert. True, I was a noob then and in a band but I've learned to make everything on my avatar, so yea, it's not my choice today.

PS I didn't know modesty was the topic here.
