Question

Is there any way at all to find out from the governance board the status of a grievance that's been filed? I filed an Abuse Report about 3 weeks ago, but the abuse is still occurring. I'm paying $75.00 USD every month for my land tier as well as my premium membership fee. Yet I cannot do what I want with my own land due to the actions of some inconsiderate neighbors. There must be something that can be done about this.

No, you will not be informed:

What happens when an abuse report is filed

You receive an automated response by email. If you need to add more information after submitting a report, please submit a new report. We try to resolve abuse issues as quickly as possible, but response times vary depending on the number of backlogged abuse reports. For privacy reasons, we are unable to share the details of an investigation into an abuse report.  Once your report has been submitted, we'll take it from there.

Often all it takes to curtail an issue is an official warning. In most cases, a Resident who violates our Terms of Service and/or Community Standards is given several opportunities to rectify his or her behavior before banishment occurs. In all cases, the Resident's discplinary record is reviewed to determine an appropriate response. Serious abuse may result in account suspensions or permanent bans. The length of a suspension is determined by the nature of the abuse, previous violations, and how many people are affected.

Keep filing the Abuse Reports.  However you will only get results on the AR if the actions you are reporting are legitimate violations of the ToS or CS.  Someone having some ugly build next door or some crazy animated graphics that are on their property and not encroaching on yours is not a violation of any ToS or CS rule........even if they are annoying.  Such AR's will get tossed.

LL will not give you any information about what they have done about an Abuse Report, other than the initial email confirmation.  But there are several things YOU can do:

1.  Mute the offender.  Right click their avatar and select Block.  Or open their profile and click the Block button.  The official LL viewer doesn't have that button, but you can open an IM window, left click their name in the IM history, and select Block from there.  Note that if you communicate with the person (send them an IM, or try to send them an object), they will be unblocked again.

2.  Continue to submit ARs, each time they commit a TOS violation.  If they use alts, or have friends bother you, AR each person.  Reference your other ARs in your subsequent reports.

3.  If they are coming on your land, add them to the parcel ban list.  If they are tossing objects onto your land, disable object entry.  If they bring friends over to invade your property, put up ban lines.

4.  Make anyone on your land invisible to people outside your parcel by unchecking the visibility box in About Land/Options.  Limit voice chat and sound to your parcel with About Land's Sound options.

5.  Be patient, and do not communicate with the offenders or give any sign that their actions are getting under your skin.
Do not make any response to their actions other than Blocking or submitting ARs.

6.  If you finally decide it's all too much, move.  There are a great many lovely, vacant places in SL and there is no need to live next door to a shmuck.
