That being said lets move on...

As we all know Second Life is most defined and known for the amount creativity, imagination, and the sheer brilliance in which the users bestow upon into the grid (Well thats what got ME interested and inspired me to looking into SL). So before diving into this metaverse, I decided to look into videos, articles, reviews, etc. from various websites to see what was in store for me. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:

While Reading/watching these videos/articles/reviews one subject would always pop up about SL. Sure they went into the fact of the amount of artistic content and freedom SL gives to the user but the other topic that would seem to always come up was the sexual content in also gave the user. This wasn't that much of a suprise to me. SL wasn't and still isn't the only Virtual World that gives the user to view all the virtual pr0n they want to their hearts content. Still, many people claimed that the fact of idea of avoiding the of viewing adult content was impossible. I shrugged it off, rejected what they had to say thinking they were making a bigger deal about it than it actually was and still decided to make my account.

The sims are all classified under three ratings: General(G), Moderate (M), and Adult(A). General does not contain sketchy content, Moderate has some but its nothing jaw dropping, and Adult goes all balls out (literally). So I decided just to go to my preferences and change the settings to only view G and M rated to avoid seeing adult content. Simple.

One day I decided to visit the Ivory Tower of Primatives and test out the building tools SL had to offer and while building a chair (or house...idk..) when I was still rather new to the grid.  A random stranger decided to come on by, whip out his pixel dick, and yank.I didn't make big deal about it and found it actually pretty funny :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: Just block the person and be on your way right? However the more I logged into SL, the more I would see sexual content in SL. I have dicussed this to friends and others about this and got the following responses that being: "SL is an adult game"or the one that really erks me: " You only see that content if you look for it". My response is this. Yes, SL is and "adult" game meaning that it was intended for adults. However I don't believe sex is the only thing that seperates the men from the boys or the women from the girls (I mean isn't there many other factors like say responsiblilty and such?...) and to the comment that I'm looking for it, I'm pretty sure ITOP is a G rated sim correct. You can come there to build, chat, look around, and anything else you want to do in that sim and it should be G rated meaning nothing sexual or "adult" realted should be there. I have seen this in many other sims that are also G rated and still see the same thing such as a woman trying out a sex doll. Is this a big deal? Well, It depends on what you find to be morally wrong in your own point of view. For me its this: Not everyone wants to see smut. If you like it good! Theres nothing wrong for you liking the things you do and anyone who judges you for what you like if its not harming them or others should simply mind their own business. My point for this post is this:  I think LL should seperate Adult content from our grid into somewhere where the adult players can still gain access to all the same way but overall avoid contacting people who do not wish to see it. I don't know how LL would go about this or in what way which is another thing I ask you guys in your opinion for. If they were to go about this, how would you guys want them to? The main thing is that SL isn't a adult-only place, teens are allowed to come onto the grid as well and for teens to be allowed into SL and to only view G rated sims and conent and still be able to view adult material is a wee-bit pointless. Why exclude them if they can still see the material they're not supposed to be seeing in the first place. Also, yes I know that adult content probably is a huge majority of what many merchants sell in SL. Thats completely understandable and that is another thing what would make this arguement hard is how most likely the entire grid of SL would change by seperating. All in all thats my opinion and I want to know if you agree how would you like SL to change things around if they were to seperate the adult content.

Thanks for reading.

I think that they do the best they can.... We no not entirely however they can't be everywhere all the time, Such as police in RL. Life is G rated mainly however some occasional guy/ girl my streak in front of you. It happens in RL and sadly also in SL. We are humans imperfect as we are are also imperfect in the game. Just enjoy and don't take things to personal. Freaks are everywhere. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing its how you take it.

They did. It's called Zindra.

If someone is whipping out their junk and playing with it at a G rated sim, or in public at a M rated sim, that is against community standards and should be reported to the sim owner and LL. My impression regarding why the teen grid was done away with and teens integrated into SL with adult content being shunted to Zindra is that it was too costly to maintain.

I very very rarely see adult content when I am out and about in SL. Even at a nude event at the M rated gay sim I help to manage I don't see adult content - yes, the guys have their stuff hanging out (the event is clothing optional, a good many of the guys keep it in their swim trunks) but no one plays with it, its not even erect, its just there, more like a pair of earrings or shoes, just for decoration.

There was a female avatar hitting on a resident last week, making lewd comments and sexual gestures, she was estate banned. That sort of thing happens rarely. More annoying than appalling, no big deal to be rid of someone like that.

So when you say an adult grid, you are suggesting SL without any private parts allowed, no sex beds, no sex animations, none of that? So that if I wanted to attend a concert, I would have to log into one grid and say I met a guy there and we wanted to get frisky (not that that would ever happen, I don't bump pixels, haven't for years) we would have to log out of the G rated grid and log into an adult grid just to go back to his place to fool around? That doesn't seem very practical. It is also asking a great deal of LL to set up an entire grid merely because some people take sex in SL far too seriously.

LL does what it can, there will always be teens sneaking into places they shouldn't go, it isn't going to scar a teen for life to see cartoon private parts on some jerk who thinks he or she is being cute, and most likely the jerk whipping it out and doing that IS a teen. When people talk about teens and adult content in SL, I get a sense that some people find it appalling that the innocent lambs could be exposed to such filth, but lets be realistic, a good many teens are doing very adult things in RL, if they come here looking for adult content, they are not babes in the woods.

Personally, I have never seen adult content on a G rated sim, yes I've seen guys whipping it out (and women without clothes playing with themselves) at M rated sims, but that's to be expected. If someone does get his or her jollies doing that stuff at G rated locations, either the novelty will wear off or they will be ARd or the school holiday will be over and said account holder will leave SL to go back to class until the next time there's a break.

I agree. It more annoying to me than anything and some do take the situation too far and to me its not the fact that I worry about what teens see since they probably have seen worse its just that for the people who don't care for pixel bumping (heh heh clever) it can bit a vexing. :matte-motes-confused:

I am sorry, but I don't really see what your point is.,

The Ivory Tower of Prims is, as far as I know, on a G-rated sim, so the guy shouldn't have been running round in the nude.   He was breaking the rules and you could, if you chose, AR him.   Had there been any admins from the Ivory Tower about, they could have booted him from the parcel and banned him from coming back.

The rules are there about the sort of content that's allowed on G, M and Adult sims, despite the fact that sometimes people break them.  So I am not really sure what you're asking for, other than, possibly, more rigorous enforcement.

Personally I'd see some of the serious griefing with self-replicating prims, and so on, that we're seeing a lot of at the moment as a higher priority than that, but others may disagree.

Was that really quoted correct in that way? You became citizen only after joining the army. Why does it start with "Do your part, citizen!" then? Guess I'll have to watch the movie again...

What's with this strange dichotomy in the first place????  Artistic, creative content vs "ADULT!   ZOMG!!!!!" content?

I put a lot of effort, imagination and creativity into my adult pursuits.   Call me a pervert if you must, but do not insult my artistic integrity.

Well if you make art that involves nudity I see it more tolerable than straight up pornography. So its not that im criticizing or looking down at it, just some people don't want to see it.

Some people's idea of art are other people's idea of pornography.  You have the right to view such images anyway you wish.  But, do you have the right to force your view on everyone else?
