I'm renting some adult mainland, and was working with the owner of the land to arrange to buy it.

Now when I try to contact any of their avatars, it says "Bye Bye, the human behind me is gone".  Their website and facebook pages are also gone. 

The one owner stated they were in the hospital for a while, and I'm wondering if they may have died.  I'm paying the rent box, but is that money actually going anywhere? 

How can I find out what's up with Gold Fride and the Marly Tomsen outfit?  Is the land going to be repo'd by LL? 

Edited to add - I have checked with others in the rental group that owns the land and they have found the same thing, so I have contacted LL.  I'm hoping they can tell me something additional.  We have a considerable build on the land, and I really don't want to have to rebuild all of it somewhere else (It took months to get it right). 

Thank you both for responding.  Hopefully LL will be able to tell me something, and if they are going to repo it hopefully they will work with us. 

ETA- the land owner finally got back to me, they indicated they are leaving SL as they are bored with it, and sold us the land.

If you are paying Lindens to an inactive account they are gone. If that account holder is not converting them into USDs by selling them ~ or ~ does not have an active payment method on file for that account then your mainland parcel will eventually go into default and be reclaimed by Governor Linden for eventual sale.

If you are paying an object then the scripted avatar that the payment object is programmed to send the lindens to is receiving them. Unfortunately, you may not get an acknowledgment of who that is. Try IMing the owner of the Payment Object with your questions about the status of the parcel you are on.

Thirdly, Your parcel may be a sublet. In this case the actual land owner will be coming a knocking soon. Do an About Land and see who actually owns the parcel you are living on and IM them soonest. If owned by a group, then look up the group owners and IM them as well.

 

P.S. I looked up your landlords and their land groups and it seems you are paying a  hippoRENT object. Most likely the payments are being collected by one of the seemingly abandoned avatar accounts. It's time to look for a new residential location.

P.S.S. Just in case you were to ask, NO, the hippoRENT box can not and is not paying the linden tiers directly.

If you followed Karen's advice and checked out who the actual 'owner' of this region is, 
And you should find out this person is also no longer available / the account is gone or possibly inactive,
and you are planning on buying this region,

In this speciffic case you should probably contact Linden Lab and inform them of the gone-missing region owner, and announce your interest in this region. And ask for advice.

I am not sure if they make deals directly in such cases or if they prefer to have it get back on the open market. (after all periods of payment reminders have passed by of course) But i'm sure you'll get an answer. And it can't hurt to ask : )
