Is there a way to earn linden dollars by doing surveys or watching videos?  On IMVU they allow you to fill out Surveys or watch Videos to earn currency.  Is there anything like that here?

I think the website from Earn2Life offeres such options, but they pay really not much. But at least you could take a look...just notice: This is not from LL itself but from a third party.

As Val says, this is not IMVU.  Second Life is more like RL. It is not a game.  If you don't bring cash with you from your credit card or PayPal account (by far the best way to get L$) , then you have to earn it in world.  You can earn reasonable amounts of money in SL if you are a talented creator (scripter, builder, designer, animator ...), if you have skills as a performer (DJ, musician, dancer .....), or if you are lucky enough turn a profit on real estate.  By comparison, games and contests typically yield very low returns.  You can find services on the Internet that are unaffiliated with Linden Lab, some of which offer L$ for things like surveys.  You should note carefully that (1) these have nothing to do with Second Life, officially and (2) there is no guarantee that they are legitimate or safe sites.  If you lose money or have other problems with them, you cannot turn to Linden Lab for help.

Yes there is. I've been completing the surveys for 3 years now. It's at stuffpoints.com. There's a kiosk for it in secondlife.
