what do u mean by "disappear" ?

if you mean it become invisible, this is the purpose of an alpha layer. It makes some part of your body invisible for they dont show off over your mesh clothing.

mesh clothings can sometimes need some seconds before appearing and rigging to your body in the correct position.

Did you wait enough ?

If the alpha layer mess a lil the other part of your body, do a rebake (crtl + alt + R) several time.

you can add or wear btw.. if you are not wearing any other alphalayer, you can simply wear, it doesnt matter. As for your mesh clothes. if its settled on the correct attachement, it doesnt matter if you wear or add. (sadly some creators seems to be to lazy and settle their meshes to the hand, what can be tricky if you try to get something like a drink or a piece of cake later )

Alpha layers are precisely meant to make parts of your avatar disappear, so that the mesh clothes fit when you wear them. Make sure you are not trying to wear too many alphas: 5 is the maximum. If parts of you avi disappear when they should not, go to your worn items and detach the alphas one by one until you identify the one causing the problem. Also check your tattoos if you are wearing some: they can be in conflict with other layers. Other than that, you are doing it the right way: the alphas must be "added", not "worn", but the clothes can be indifferently "added" or "worn".
