One option is to to put a texture such as a typed message graphic on that face!

You can also use a hovertext script to do that.  Hovertext hovers over the top of a prim,  To make it appear like it is on the face of one, like on say a HUD,  just rotate the prim 90 degrees so the top becomes one of the sides.
