I have a question. I see sploders all over SL, they pay out Lindens and there is no skill in using them. How do places get away with using those. Some have detection too even puts you on a list out of SL if you don't click it. Aren't those illegal?

if the sploders free to play then is not gambling

Umm...I kind of know that.
:)
it wouldn't be considered gambling of any type without wagering. That wasn't my question. It was how they get away with calling them a game of skill..if that's what they do for them to stay on the grid all over the place.

maybe you meaning something else then if you talking about games of skill

sploders are the balls you click on and can put money into. usual minimum 10L and up to as much you want. so do other people. after a time it splodes and whoever is in can win

sometimes can be heaps. like people go insane if they having a good time. the biggest sploder prize I seen in recent was L72,000

the club owner put in 500L which about normal prize for that club. the DJ put in 500L. the hostess put in 500L. then a patron put in 1500L to match. the DJ went ooowwwwahhh!!! and double up. the club owner double it. another patron then double. the first patron went lol and put in another 2000L. and it went nuts after that. as everyone pile into it

for the rest of the next 2 hours of that DJs set the sploder never had less than 20,000L in it. people TP in from all over. loading it up lol and playing. was amazing crazy

this plain gambling. is no skill involved at all. and is no pretense that it is

No, I am not referring to something else. I know how sploders work and my original post was asking how they can stay in SL without being a game of skill as outlined in the TOS. In my combined years of being in SL I have never seen a sploder that you didn't put money into to receive some "lucky by chance" payout. I think you have misunderstood all my posts :)

I was wondering how they can be all over the grid as a gambling device, as i know it's not a game of any skill, have many AR's and still be all over inworld and sold on MP even using the name "sploder" not a fancy name to lead you to believe it's a sploder.

bc they not a gaming device by legal definition. like they not a fruit machine (game of chance) where you play against the house. you play against other people. if they not want to play then is no game

the recentish US law that prohibit gambling in SL is not about the devices. the law forbid the inter-state transfer of money for illegal purposes

the States of Nevada and New Jersey recent challenge the DoJ on gambling on games of chance as an illegal purpose bc gambling is not illegal in their States. that the DoJ understanding is an unlawful restraint of trade. The DoJ just recent release that they agree. so they not going to enforce the law change that was sneaked through late in the night attached to a bill that had nothing to do with gambling at all

DoJ say they are only going to enforce the federal law against sports betting bc that is actual spelled out in the US Criminal Code. and that's all

+

SL ToS is about conforming with RL laws. linden never had any moral position on this

bc of the DoJ ruling then if California follow Nevada and New Jersey and make new State legislation that specific provide for online gambling then we will get casinos back in SL

the Nevada and New Jersey states laws are about licensing. like have to get a license to run a gambling operation open to public

I have no idea the reference to these states. I am well aware of the gambling laws in the US, I can toss a stone to Atlantic City.

"Previously, the Wire Act had made gambling across state lines illegal, but in 2011 the Court of Appeals ruled that this only applied to sports betting"

is all over other news media as well. I just list this bc was first in my google

am going to say again. and I keep saying it bc is right

there is no ban on gambling in the USA. there is a ban on inter-state transfers of money for illegal puposes

Quoted for truth.  The reason LL banned gambling was because it had the potential to prevent the use of credit/debit card use to pay for SL because it would have put those financial institutes issuing the cards at legal risk., period.

My post was about being sploders and how they are not games of skill. Simple. And Thank You for your replies.

is all good (:

at end of day is upto linden to determine what they allow us to do in SL. they the ones who end up in trouble if is a federal crime. not us. well not me bc I am not a US citizen. so most for me is I get account ban. like i not end up in a US jail

+

like Kenbro said. is about the money. credit card companies and paypal will cut linden off if what linden allows puts them the cc and paypal people at risk of committing a crime

+

I think that with the latest from Nevada and New Jersey then will bring some sanity and trust to onine gambling. like licensed and regulated operators and that

bc some of the sites that used to online were a bunch of thiefs and crooks. not all of them. but quite a few. was same SL in them olden days

+

will be good I think if casinos ever came back to SL bc they will have to have a RL casino license. like if we get ripped off then can make RL complaint to their State License Board. If not got any license then cant run any SL casino

if so then never have to worry about the illegal operators and devices anymore. bc the RL legal casino licensees in SL be all over them and linden as well
