I keep getting the message that my video drivers are not up to date but they are current.

How did you check that? It is always advised to install the drivers directly from the manufacturer, namely ATI, nvidia or Intel and NOT use the drivers that come with Windows!

What exactly is the message you get and what video card and driver are you using?

As Ansariel Hiller said,

It's better off using teh graphics driver from your company that owns the graphics. Windows will just install a graphics that will help you view your screen but sometimes will not allow you to do such things.
