If I block a person,do they know they are blocked is there a way it shows them?

If I block a person,do they know they are blocked?sometimes I find it necessary to do this,but do not want to hurt feelings .so I need to know if they are aware they have been blocked

No they don't know. Except you use the auto-response feature for muted residents in Firestorm for instance. If they IM you, they will then receive a custom response you can define, saying they have been blocked by you.
