Queer being none steriotypical females, generally lesbians.  I've been to a lot of the gay clubs for girls in sl and mostly they seem populated by fem lesbian or bisexual women who look no different than streight women, bar a bit more slutty.

I've been to the gay disctrict in my city and other cities quite regularily and you will find most bars populated by a mix of fems butches, FTMs, stones, boi's etc etc.  But sl you hardly ever find these people.  I have afew butch and boi friends but it seems like they don't really fit in with the general stlye of clubs in sl.  I'm wondering if its because they are populated by men using female avatars who are put off by women who look more butch than the average porn star in mainstreem porn movies.  I find it kind of boring my self.

In SL I guess its really because behind many female avatars is actually a male straight user and thats why the avatars tend to look like cheap street workers.

I'm female in both worlds and I also started to visit those clubs again lately. My avatar looks feminine and I also prefer that kind of look (but still not like those slutty dressed avatars that you descriped). If I love a woman, I want one and not a bad dressed guy. On a technical side I also think its harder to get a female avatar to look butch, because of the limited fashion in SL. Its easier to dress like everyone else...so that might keep people away from the apperance you are looking for.

uh, no.

"Queer being none steriotypical females, generally lesbians."

Maybe if you used a less deregatory term, people'd be more inclined to communicate with you.

It is not considered derogatory now by most people in the community, it's a common self-identification term especially within circles of younger generation of lesbians and gays, more popular for bisexuals (and others, F2Ms and drag kings, not so much M2Fs). Perhaps it is offensive here in SL among questioning bi's experimenting, or the friendly straights not in the know but it's not to the out 'us'  who are here.

The acceptable acronym for the community, and media standard, is "LGBTQ," representing Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and *QUEER* (or Questioning, depending on the media or how one identifies). The Q was added more recently to accommodate the vast amount of young people who have more radical outlook, don't identify strictly lesbian or gay, and/or otherwise don't give a damn what anyone else things, particularly the straights. "Take back who you are". It takes a wrong and makes it right.

And...

Uh, yes. Do the math. But I would agree somewhat, as I don't consider them all "straight" since some do play with men ;)
