how do I abandon my SL premium home?

Because the land actually isn't yours. Just the house is. Go inside, click on the floor, and see if it will let you choose to abandon that way. If not, try camming down underneath the floor to the land DIRECTLY below your house. I think, though, if I recall correctly, that clicking on the floor of the house should do it.

Before giving up your house, right click on each item and take back to your inventory any furnature or decorations that you bought and rezed into you hours. Then, while standing in your house, click on the World menu at the top of your viewer, select About Land. The Abandon land button is on there.
