Is there a way to pay for 2 sims separately but join them for a group land?

Question

We want to build a larger Gorean land but 1 sim is just not big enough. Unfortunately, the current owner of the sim doesnt have enough money to pay for a 2nd, so someone else has stepped up and offered to pay for the 2nd sim. The only reason they are hesitating is whether they will be able to use them together. If the sims are side-by-side, one sim being paid by one person, the other sim being paid for by the other person, both will be under our group name. Will this work? They are looking for information before jumping into something like this...

Both sims can be deeded to the same group, but the lands cannot be joined to make a larger land as a whole. And each sim will have its own name. However, you can put teleporters from one sim to the other one and vice-versa.

According to the KB: The estate owner is the only person responsible for paying Linden Lab for land on an estate

See more about group owned land here:

Yes, the two sims can be placed next to each other.  See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-Private-Regions/ta-p/700115#Section_.6

If the second sim is an existing one, it would have to be moved (for a fee of $150). See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-Private-Regions/ta-p/700115#Section_.5.2

Asuma,

The answer to your question is Yes.

Private Regions owned by different Estate Owners may be located adjacent to each other with permission. If you don't own the regions yet, make sure to have the people that are going to commit to the purchase or these regions follow these steps:

1) Region 1 - Have the 1st person obtain region and have it moved to a clear grid location making sure that LL understands your group of people will be purchasing additional regions to exist adjacent to this one; Here is a link to a discussion on purchasing a used region which can save you a lot of money initially.

2) Once in place and established, have the Region Owner log into their web account and go to the Land Manager / My Estates / Allowed Neighbors link to add the name of the SL Avatar allowed to co-locate regions next to your existing region(s).

3) Have the 2nd person obtain region and have it moved to the  grid location next to the existing region; Here is a link to a discussion on purchasing a used region which can save you a lot of money initially.

By doing this at region purchase time, you save an additional move fee.

4) Once the regions are next to each other and the normal services are operating for both [such as the ability to see and walk across the region boundaries, create parcels owned by and deeded to the same group on both regions. If the parcels at the region boundaries are both in this group then the group/role permissions apply to any avatar that is a member of the group in that role.

Please note that prim sharing only applies to those prims on each region and one region can not borrow prims from the other.

Griffin and Valerie's links are also relevant. :)

I used to have 3 owners for our 6 regions and we had a common group that owned a corridor group that allowed access to all members on all of the 6 islands.
