Does anyone know if Linden is taking steps to stop the $999L group joiner spam?

It seems no number of ARs about this issue have any effect.

I can't imagine that it is that lucrative for the perpetrator, but, they just keep it up. They fill in precious spots on the ban list already filled with idi0ts of one sort or another

Anyone can submit an Abuse Report, if they think that the Terms of Service have been violated.  Linden Lab always investigates, and in cases of verifiable abuse they do "take steps".

But they never tell anyone what steps, if any, they have taken in response to the reported abuse.  So no...no one knows.

I'm not familiar with this particular offense...from your post I gather that someone is inviting people to join a group that has a $L 999 fee to join.  This in itself is not against the Terms of Service.  If the group is not providing whatever it promised, then it might be possible to prove that it's fraud.
