Put items into merchant box now when I delete them from unassociated inventory they keep coming back

So long as you are only having trouble deleting them from unassociated inventory, I don't think it's anything to lose sleep over.  That's annoying, but it won't affect any of the items you have as active listings.  You can file a support ticket to get LL's attention, but it's probably a glitch that will disappear in time.

there was a known glitch a little while ago, you could delete them one by one but not as a group.  I thought they'd fixed this but maybe not?

I think they did. At least I haven't had any trouble recently. Glitches have a way of coming back, though, so anything is possible.
