this has happened a couple times when rooming with people and i still dont know if there is an easy fix. But when someone puts down a texture on something that isnt a prim they rezzed, it gets attached to certain parts of the house's build. whether it be a chunk of the floor or a wall. is there a way to re-rez the house with the old textures and put it back exactly where it was so the house doesnt have to be re-furnished? or some other way of fixing this error if you dont have access to the original texture that used to be there? any help would be appreciated thank you ^^

Yes, there is. Delete the building but not any of the furnishings.  Then re rez the building from the rez box.  When you move the rez box the whole building will move with it allowing you to line the building up to the furnishings.  It takes some patience but it can be done. Once your get it as close as you can you may need to make a few minor adjustments to the furnishing.

Before taking the box back into your inventory, click the rez box and go to edit > Object > position.  Take note of the the three xyz coordinates shown. Do the same for the rotation.  I like to write them in the description of the rez box.  Once you do , take the rez box back into inventory and if you ever have to do it again, just rez out that box, type in the three number you noted in the position xyz and rotation xyz then rez and it will go back exactly in place with not furnishing adjustment needed.  I recommend you do this with any building you rez actually.

To avoid having an accidental change like that in the future, lock your building down.  To do this click on each section of the building and go to Edit>Object and check the box next to Lock.  Note that only the owner can do this.  The building will not be able to be changed in any way by anyone.  If you want to mod it for any reason, just unlock, make your mods and then lock it back again.

Another way, assuming you have enough prims available, is:

  1. put out another rezzer;
  2. rez the new house and move the rezzer so that it moves the new house into the same exact position as the old;
  3. de-rez the new house temporarily;
  4. delete the old house; and finally
  5. re-rez the new.

Definitely take note of the x/y/z coordinates of the rezzer for the next time it happens. :smileyvery-happy:

when you are done with your origninal building back, you can avoid this happens another time by locking your building, so you wont be able to change the texture accidentaly, or even derezz it without purpose.

For this edit the building and in the object tab tick the first box "lock". And when you will need to make some changes on it, you ll just need to unlock it.:smileyhappy:
