I went through the 1000 mark a few times as my posts kept getting deleted by mods. So if you enjoy your celebration today then you could start trolling, get your posts and threads removed by the mods and celebrate the whole thing again tomorrow :matte-motes-big-grin:

Thanks Val.

/me stares at Val's amazingly high post count and wonders does Val live in the forums?
:smileysurprised:

Lol, I work in the forums from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, which are my real work hours for a boring job where I'm paid to do close to nothing. :P

Posting lolcats for such a long time makes most of my post count, actually. :D

/me eagerly waits how Linden Lab will acknowledge and reward this stupendous achievement...

Me: call_me.gifHullo, hullo, is this Linden Lab?  Maybe Rodvik even? :matte-motes-big-grin:

CustomerCarer Linden:  CustomerCarer Linden here.  Thank you for not saying "Linden Labs". :matte-motes-smile:

CustomerCarer Linden:  Now tell me, how can I be of assistance?

Me:  You see few hours ago I made my 1000th post.  Woot! :matte-motes-big-grin:

Me:  I haven't heard anything from you yet though...

CustomerCarer Linden:  Erm... yes?

Me:  I was thinking there would be some kind of acknowlegment.  Perhaps a reward too?

CustomerCarer Linden:  For what, if I may ask?  I'm a bit bafled here...

Me:  1000th post!  Isn't it great?  Contributions to the community.  Being an active member.  You know.

CustomerCarer Linden:  A reward? You must be joking!  Right?  :matte-motes-wink:

Me:  Hum, no I'm not joking... :matte-motes-bored:

Me:  I was thinking of being offered coffee with cake in the main office... at least.. :matte-motes-big-grin:

CustomerCarer Linded:  ROFLOL.  Ooppss, sorry about that, it just slipped... (/tries to recollect himself..)

CustomerCarer Linden:  Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, we don't reward such actions here.  Sorry.

Me:  Oh, I see.  :matte-motes-agape:

Me:  How about virtual coffee, at virtual office?  With some high ranking Linden?  Wearing a cool avie? :matte-motes-big-grin:

CustomerCarer Linden:  I'm sorry to say, to my knowledge, we don't do that either.

Me:  No?  Really?

CustomerCarer Linden:  Excuse me now, I really must go now to other matters.  Have a good day.

Me:  Wait, wait... One more question!

Telephone Line: beep, beep, beep, beep, beep....

:smileysurprised:   supersad.gif   C'est la vie, n'est-ce pas?

I recall the days, with no small amount of whimsy, when the whole of idea of SL was SL...remember that?....thequaint, unique inworld virtual world?

Yet, here you are..slapping yourself on the back for posting 1000 posts - count 'em - on a .......forum.   A forum about....SL.

Can you kinda see my point here?  (Probably not, as you are the sort of person who is gaping in admiration at the coach, whilst being oblivious to the beautiful horses and wheels.)

Get back inworld!

People, and I refer to the sad specimens who have posted in their thousands, clearlry have lost the plot here!!!!

Well dang!!!  I didn't know we celebrated posting milestones. ;)

Happy 1,000 to you and a belated 2,000 to me.  Come to think about it, I never celebrated my 3,688 posts on the old forums.

No I don't see your point.  The only thing sad is your assumptions.  Most of the people on this forum who have that many posts are also very active in SL itself and probably have been for a lot longer than you.  They usually get to that number by generously spending some time each day answering questions and helping other residents with problems over a long period of time, an activity that they get no compensation for.

BTW if being in the forum  as opposed to being in SL is so sad, what are you doing here?

Many people (including me) find it necessary to spend time they'd prefer to spend inworld out here in RL, doing mundane things like earning a living to finance all those shopping trips, vehicle purchases, and tips to performers when they finally do get inworld.

The forum is a place where I can still connect with some of the social dynamic that SL provides, where I can learn things I can use inworld, and where I generally get a few chuckles. I only need to stop by and take quick peeks now and then during the day to do that.

I haven't lost any plots. I doubt most of the rest of us have, either.

I think you have lost the plot here and I shall demonstrate why.

I have written over a 1000 posts, infact this is post number 1315, so I would consider myself in the catagory of time wasters that you described in your post. I joined this forum 1428 days ago. So I have made an average of 0.92 posts per day, Lets round it up to 1 shall we. I would estimate that each post would take 2 to 3 minutes to write. So by your logic, that is time wasted and I should be logged in to SL enjoying myself instead. The problem with this stupid idea is that by the time I have launched the viewer, typed my password, logged in and rezzed in my desired location, my 2 to 3 minutes would be up. So what you have suggested is just as much a waste of time as posting on the forums.

Hoshi Kenin, excuse me for saying, but it appears that you have no idea at all what you are saying.  It would be an amazing achievement if you could estimate a person reading a single post - what was made with tongue in cheek. :smileywink:

I spend hours and hours inworld almost every single day of the year.  And what do I do while inworld?

For example these activities:

• sailing familiar places, sailing in places never visited before

• drive various vehicles on SL roads

• sometimes I use my helicopter for sightseeing

• exploring new never before visited places - a lot

• going to live concerts

• taking part in various hunts

• going shopping

• relax on beautiful tropical beaches

• communicate with friends, have fun together

• communicate with strangers

• occasionally help some lost newbie

• sometimes I design something small

• adjust clothing, make new mix and match ones from the existing ones

• tweak my avatar

(I have spent countless hours on those two last one "hobbies")

As you can see, even if people post a lot in the forums, it does not mean that they "have lost the plot".  They still can spend a lot of time inworld.  I do, and so do many others too.  "Sad specimens" did you say? :smileysurprised:

For me inworld experiences and forum posting/reading complement each other.  And besides, in the forums I have learned a lot of things about Second Life what I surely would not have learned just by being inworld alone.
