I don't know, I kinda like the Christmas **bleep** signaling she is:

     A. Choking on the small candy cane

     B. Indicating the small candy cane is not even close to filling her mouth as much as the large one in her other hand

     C. Signaling she wants to shoot herself.

     D. All the above!

This was the dumbest splash image for a company that desperately wants to make people think Second Life is not just pixel porn these days! My bet is that Valentine's Day - which is usually next - won't be any better. Maybe they can jazz it up with a slogan like, "Visit Zindra; its like Linden Realms but with better entertainment!"  :matte-motes-evil-invert:

LOL about your description of the Christmas image.  I was thinking something similar but couldn't quite put it into words.  So ok now we have Valentine's day but, ummmmm...is it just me or does the couple look anything "but" happy?  I understand avatar faces and all but there are smiling gestures or even a pose looking at each other "dreamily."  This image says to me:

*Ok, let's get this Valentine photo shoot over with.  We're models and clearly have no chemistry. (Also wondering if the black nail polish means anything...lol.)

I happened to see this today but I almost never go to secondlife.com without already being logged in so I seldom see the splash screen (although I had seen the candy cane one and I think Nuhai's choice 'D' is correct). Having seen your comment today I just made a special trip to see the Valentine one. Overlooking the fact he could at least have cinched up his tie and worn a jacket—I mean, they're still at the dance, not sitting across from each other at a table in some cosy restaurant—you're right about the look but I don't think that's an SL thing. It's a model thing. Maybe even a beautiful person thing.

They both look like they are trying to look as fabulous as they can. Individually. There's not even a speck of heat or even interest going on between them, as you pointed out. It is true that SL can let one look individually beautiful. But it can also do a pretty good job of involving two people with one another.

A few years back I used to visit my dashboard on a regular basis. There was a sort of short video clip with a lot of different stuff but at one point a guy and a girl embraced on the Eiffel Tower. Right about that time I came as close as I ever have to having an actual relationship here, but just when I thought I'd go forward I found out I was wrong. I used to have to close my eyes after logging in so I wouldn't see that embrace. Why don't the people who make the decisions understand all this place can be?
