Is there a way to make the sea level around a private island sim rise with the sea level in the sim?

Unless you own the regions [8 would be the magic number] around you, the sea level at absolute region edge is an artificial artifice. At the edge of your region there are no other region(s) genned next to you to make setting changes to.

If you can't raise the sea, lower the land!  You can edit a private region's terrain +/- 100m.  Just lower the seabed.

Well stated! - ..and watch out for that 20m sea wall you run into while scuba diving near the region edge - giggles. I do recall placing a huge seaweed wall texture at that interface for one of my islands once so mer-people could have a nice full region to build in at 60m deep.

Hello,

the sea level around a private island should automatically become the sea level of the sim.

Just relog to see the effect (probably it doesn't change instantly).

If it does not change to the water level of the sim after relogging (make sure you've tested with the official viewer from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads?lang=en-US), please file a bug-report at jira.secondlife.com.
