Yes, you will lose all Premium benefits, you would go to the about Land page, and abandon the Linden Home. Then go to your Dashboard.

Yes, if you decide to purchase a Premium membership, you would get the benefits that come with it.

If you revisit in 5 years, Linden Homes may not be offered; just saying. idk

If you think you might want a Linden Home again later but don't want to commit to a Premium membership, you might want to consider other options too.  A Linden Home isn't "free", after all.  It's a benefit of Premium membership, for which you are paying a monthly fee.  You might want to get out paper and pencil and do a little math to see whether you could do better by paying rent for a parcel somewhere in SL and putting your own house on it.  There's a lot of rental property out there, and you don't need a Premium membership to use it.  Depending on the size of the parcel and the rate that its landowner has set, you could easily pay less than you are for your Premium membership. You also have more flexibility in what you can do on the parcel.

Advantages (Subject to any convenant restrictions on the sim):

  • You can build and modify whatever house you like.
  • You can put a skybox on the parcel.
  • You can run a business there.

Disadvantages:

  • A house on the rented parcel counts against the parcel's prim limit.
  • A private estate could change ownership (or disappear), forcing you to relocate unexpectedly.
  • You don't have any Premium benefits (Live Chat, Premium sandbox, etc.)
