the newish Center attachment point is perfect for this. anything attached to Center dont move with your avatar animations. only moves when you do with nav keys. is great for doing what you say here

is also really great for pets that sit on the ground. say like a dog. he can sit by you and stay sat still even if your AO makes you move/wiggle. and when you move with nav keys then he can stand up and follow. is so cool when they do that

other thing is that even when he sit then can puppet/animate him so he can do tricks. like beg and rollover or just run round chase his tail. is pretty cool that way as well
